On 31st August 2019, ERIC Fest will open the doors to one of the most established but often overlooked and under-represented creative industries; Publishing. The event entitled ‘Storytelling’ will take place at the iconic Somerset House in london, where 400 budding writers, authors, journalists, podcasters, bloggers and photographers will be introduced to the exciting world of print, audio and digital publishing and the opportunities available in those fields in 2019.
The event is part of Somerset House’s cultural programme which runs alongside their major summer exhibition ‘Get Up, Stand Up Now’ – a major new exhibition celebrating the past 50 years of Black creativity in Britain and beyond. Join ERIC and Somerset House in celebrating Black creativity in publishing. Catherine Ritman Smith, Head of Learning and Skills at Somerset House explains:
“Somerset House is delighted to be hosting ERIC Fest as part of our year-round Creative Careers programme. Somerset House is the largest concentration of creative organisations in London, and we want to be a source of information, inspiration and support for emerging young talent in the sector. A collaboration with ERIC Fest is the ideal way to provide insight into the wealth of opportunities for young people to make their mark through publishing and we’re really looking forward to the event.”
The festival will deliver a mixed programme of speakers, hands-on workshops, immersive experiences, live demos, showcases and more, with the space divided into five sections – the Main Stage for young, creative speakers and four rooms for showcasing different publishers and innovations within the industry. ERIC say:
“Immerse yourself in the different interactive room experiences that our event partners have designed and learn about the incredible creativity behind publishing. If you’re interested in reading, writing, drawing, design, marketing, photography (or pretty much any creative skill) then come to this event and discover a whole industry you never even knew existed!”
